OCR — Prayers of Thanksgiving After Holy Communion
Sunday, 20 July, 2025
Prayers of Thanksgiving, or 'Post Communion Prayers,' are traditionally read immediately following the dismissal of the Divine Liturgy. We, the faithful, mimic that one righteous leper who having been healed by Jesus Christ of his leprosy, came back to offer before Him his gratitude. Many, however, are unable to stay for these prayers due to a variety of obligations. And so, this is for those who have to immediately leave the church and hurry to take care of their responsibilities. May these prayers be edifying to you as you listen to them and with compunction offer thanksgiving for having received the greatest gift man could ever receive: The Precious Body and Blood of our Lord. The translation used is published by Holy Transfiguration Monastery in Brookline Massachusetts. It maintains a genuine faithfulness to the original To access this same episode on YouTube, click here. 0:13 Glory to Thee O God 0:19 Anonymous Prayer 1:43 Prayer of St. Basil the Great 2:25 Prayer of St. Symeon Metaphrastes 3:53 Anonymous Prayer 4:18 To the Most Holy Theotokos 5:25 Symeon's Song 5:39 Trisagion Prayer 6:38 Dismissal Hymn for St. John Chrysostom 7:28 Lord Have Mercy (12) 7:45 More Honorable
