The connectivity that helped Jackson earn its nickname also led the city to become a center of trade, education, entertainment, arts and culture, and industry. Jackson is home to six colleges and universities, as well as a state technology center. Healthcare is Jackson's largest industry, followed by manufacturing with everything from automotive parts to Pringles potato chips being made in Jackson. Jackson serves as the retail, employment, and entertainment hub for the West Tennessee region, serving over 400,000 people on a daily basis. Also known as, the birthplace of Rockabilly Music, Jackson is the hometown of many well-renowned musicians, including Carl Perkins, Big Maybell, LOLO, and more. Jackson's affordable cost of living and numerous quality-of-life amenities make it a great place to raise a family, start a business, or invest in your community.
