Friday, 21 February, 2025
What if the key to a thriving business isn’t just solving problems but rewarding what’s already working? Today, we’re exploring how positive reinforcement can transform your team’s performance. Whether you’re a business owner, manager, or team leader, recognizing and celebrating the right behaviors can create momentum, boost morale, and improve results. I’ll share real-world examples of how tracking progress, setting clear expectations, and gamifying workplace achievements can lead to lasting improvements. You’ll hear how simple shifts in leadership like rewarding punctuality or turning company goals into friendly competitions can make all the difference. If you’re ready to create a workplace where employees feel valued, motivated, and engaged, this episode is for you. Let’s dive in and discover how to build a thriving culture, recognize success, and bring passion back to the trades. Episode Highlights: [01:12] This episode is for any leaders out there whose job it is to build a culture where people thrive and want to be part of what you're doing. [02:03] Focus on rewarding what's going right and creating momentum from there. [03:05] An example of a large business who was rewarding people who did what the managers wanted. [04:30] Steps to reinforce the right behaviors in your team. 1. Be clear on what you want. [07:18] When you're really clear on the expectations, it allows team members to be who the team needs. [08:11] 2. Track what matters. You need to track whatever metric you want to see improved. [09:36] An example with team members on the install side. It's important to make sure that these individuals are wearing their full uniform for safety reasons. It doesn't provide consistency. [10:33] There was a manager who required all team members to take a selfie when they were on the job to track uniform consistency. [11:30] If you don't measure it, the team doesn't have a chance to improve. [12:25] 3. Make it fun. Work doesn't have to be boring. Fun environments and gamification create better results. [14:30] Focus on rewarding more of what you want to see on your team. Reward the team members who are doing what you are asking them to do.
