BTE 6.04 Building Healthy Team Culture with Kylee Higgins and Lauren Mallory
Episode 4
Sunday, 25 October, 2026
In this episode, we talk with Kylie Higgins, Lead Youth Pastor at Traders Point Christian Church, about how youth ministry leaders build a healthy team culture that lasts, even when roles shift from peer to leader. We dig into shared values, influence based leadership, and a debrief process that makes feedback feel safe and useful. We discuss:• moving from teammate to team leader while leading friends• leading with influence in a dotted line structure• building shared language through clear staff values• saying values out loud until they feel normal• using celebration to shape what gets repeated• debriefing with right, wrong, missing, and confused• replacing “baby ideas” with “diamond ideas” for better feedback• grounding evaluation in humility instead of prideIf you’d like to connect with us, you can email us at podcast@ciy.com or reach out on the CIY Community Facebook group.
