Death is like the “elephant in the middle of the room.” Everyone sees the elephant but pretends the huge, gray elephant is not there. We dare not even talk about the elephant. I feel sorry for the elephant. Don’t you? Everyone ignores him! Poor Mr. Elephant! Yet, death is our most important act. Don’t you want to control your death? The way it is now, most humans do not. But we should be able to! People should reduce pain and suffering and retain their freedom, control, and autonomy at the end-of-life process. A death doula can help!
