In this conversation, host Shalom Agtarap is joined by Dr. Shively Smith, Associate Professor of New Testament at Boston University School of Theology and faculty member for Academy #43. Drawing from her deep scholarship and lived experience, Dr. Smith invites us into a conversation about New Testament spirituality—how Scripture forms both head and heart, and how faith takes shape in community.Together, they explore what it means to “go to the village,” to cultivate small acts of kindness and consistency as a counter to despair, and to live with courage and curiosity in our spiritual questions. Dr. Smith reminds us that the life of faith is not about certainty but about seeking, listening, and being accompanied well along the way.Dr. Shively T. J. Smith is Associate Professor of New Testament at Boston University School of Theology and a faculty member of the upcoming Academy 43. A noted Howard Thurman scholar and author of Strangers to Family and Interpreting 2 Peter through African American Women's Moral Writings, she is a sought-after speaker who has appeared on the History Channel, C-SPAN, and at the National Museum of African American History and Culture.
