Honestly, there was exactly one scene in this one that Emily and Ky knew they needed to discuss, but it turns out Astro Boy is fertile ground for discussion! Emily and Ky dig into old depictions of the future, the nature of old cartoons, tragedy vs. comedy, good vs. bad parenting, trauma, vocabulary, how robots work, the singularity, how other cultures perceive robots, exploitation, how to fix the timeline, and of course...the scene you gotta see to believe.
