The Bronx has one of the highest rates of maternal morbidity and mortality in New York City. Compared to their White counter parts, Black and Hispanic women receive prenatal care later in their pregnancies. Delayed prenatal care is associated with increased rates of preterm delivery, low birth weight, and congenital malformations. SBH OB/GYN attending, Dr. Paris Thomas discusses the importance of prenatal care and how one can best prepare for pregnancy. Host: Faith Daniel
