The Makings of an Artist

Not just over the heart breaks I had or the jobs I couldn’t how to make my square-peg-ass fit into a round-hole. I felt something in my come alive. My heart had really been turned on. Passion started to find it’s voice. I saw the people around me in a way that lit my creative fire in ways it had never been turned on before. This corporate job that I’ve been working has really shown me how creative and free my whole life has been. And revealed to me what is deeply important to me. And that my needs and values aren’t black and white, or either or. I care about how I spend my time. And in this, I want to create what I believe with my whole heart needs to exist within the world. What I’ve discovered this to be for me - which varies person to person- is art. I care about art. I care about freedom to speak and think in one’s own uniquely needed way. The shaping of happiness by boundless discovery. The ways within which obsession turns into something digestible and powerful that exists in a single space. I care about art. And everyone in my life for most of my life has made me doubt this. By challenging the ways within which I see the world. Confusing my mind into thinking it needs to process or understand, or speak in different ways. I care about art. And the ways it is visceral. How it provokes emotions. And awakens sensations. How, for better or for depth, it reminds us of all the layers of love. It’s sometimes hard to believe in the unknown. But that’s where fantasy opens the door to new worlds. By choosing to follow the thoughts into this liminal space and hold the discomfort of messiness, failure, range, and the mundane. If I get to choose how I spend my time. And what I share with the world. This is a part of it. And I’m creating it in real time. The spaces I hope and design are not for everyone. Intentionally so. Not to say that anyone is unwelcome. But to be clear.
