The Apostle's Creed: Declaring Truth
Sunday, 11 October, 2026
What does it actually mean to say 'I believe'? Not just to know something in our heads, but to trust it with our lives? That question sits at the heart of this exploration of the Apostles' Creed, one of the oldest and most unifying statements of Christian faith in history. For two thousand years, believers across every culture and continent have spoken these words together, and there is something profound about joining that chorus. We dig into the opening declaration of the Creed, 'I believe in God the Father Almighty, creator of heaven and earth,' and discover that it is far more than a religious formality. It is a countercultural act of trust in a world that constantly tells us to stay in control, build our own lives, and hold everything together ourselves. The exhaustion so many of us feel is not a mystery. It is the inevitable result of carrying a weight we were never meant to carry. This message invites us to consider what it would look like to actually rest in the reality that God is Father, that he is Almighty, and that he made this world good. These are not abstract theological points. They are the foundation of a life lived without the crushing pressure of self-reliance.
