[Wk14] Victory, Identity, and the Life Found in Jesus - 1 John 5:4-11

What does it truly mean to overcome the world? The answer might surprise us. Drawing from 1 John 5, we explore a vision of victory that looks nothing like the world's definition. It is not about accumulating success, avoiding struggle, or retreating into a safe religious bubble. It is about allegiance, a deep, daily commitment to align ourselves with God even when the path ahead is unclear. The sermon unpacks the idea that biblical faith is not blind trust or empty religious language, but something closer to a soldier's allegiance, trusting and acting even when we do not fully understand the orders. We are challenged to examine the things we have quietly measured victory by, our bank accounts, our relationships, our social standing, and ask honestly whether any of those things have ever brought lasting fulfillment. The message calls us back to something more solid and more freeing: an identity rooted not in what we achieve but in who we belong to.
