Her own strongest habits are storytelling and memorizing — skills she developed almost by accident on long van rides with her children, weaving family history and memory work into the journey without her kids ever realizing it was intentional. She's quick to note that the habits didn't come out of nowhere: they're the fruit of a decade of conversations about how God designed human beings to learn. Amy Jones, who hosts the Everyday Educator and was a co-author of the book, admits that memorizing is her hardest habit — not because she doesn't value it, but because she had never fully appreciated how foundational it is until working on this book. Her insight is one of the episode's best: the habits aren't subjects. They're a spine, a way of approaching anything new.
