Each year the Department of Politics and International Relations hosts a lecture given by a distinguished speaker on an aspect of international relations. These events are co-hosted by the US-UK Fulbright Commission, the Embassy of the United States of America, Pembroke College and the Lois Roth Endowment. The talks take their name from former United States Senator J. William Fulbright, founder of one of the most prestigious international education awards programs in the world: the Fulbright Program. Professor Joseph E. Stiglitz discusses the growing levels of inequality in societies like the United States and Britain, why inequality is a problem, and how the levels of inequality can be reduced. This event, the Fourth Annual Oxford Fulbright Distinguished Lecture on International Relations at the University of Oxford, was giving on 23 May 2014. It was hosted by the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Oxford, in association with the US-UK Fulbright Commission, the Embassy of the United States of America, Pembroke College and the Lois Roth Endowment.
