Inbetweenity: The Green Pod- Ep. 5 What's this COP and Who Polices It?
Episode 5
Wednesday, 5 July, 2023
The COP is arguably the most important meeting of civil society, the private sector and governments around the issue of Climate Change that pierces through our lives from bus rides to plane rides, the market and the water in our pipes but what really happens at the COP? Sumeet Betancourt is a Monitoring, Reporting and Verification Officer with the Forestry Department in Belize currently on a young professionals fellowship with the UNFCCC Fellowship in Bonn, Germany. He has been to two UNFCCC COPs as a junior negotiator and while he considers himself a rookie until #3, he does a thorough job of helping us demystify this big meeting of minds that for us in the Caribbean is a ticking clock.
