In the podcast "Reject and Resubmit: The Assist.Prof Podcast" (formerly Desk Reject: der PhD-Cast"), Alexander, Philipp, and Marco share their experiences as Assistant Professors in Business, Economics and Information Systems at different universities across Europe. The goal is not necessarily to inform, but to offer a candid lens into the joys and struggles of three junior scholars trying to find their way in the jungle of academia. Desk Reject is back with a brand new name, a slightly new concept and even less gender diversity than before! For the first episodes, the hosts Alexander Staub, Philipp Becker and Marco Leander Rapp will be applying their newfound wisdom as freshly minted Assistant Professors at Esade, Utrecht University and University of Amsterdam to discuss the following topics: - How to appropriately deal with tragedy of co-workers and or students - Whether we are incentivized too much, not enough or just the right amount to produce research that appears surprising - How to handle smalltalk situation in class and at conferences
