Episode 2 James 1:2 might be the most offensive verse in the Bible: "Consider it pure joy when you face trials of many kinds." Really, James? Pure joy about trials? In this episode, we dive into what James actually meant (spoiler: he wasn't trolling us) and discover the difference between finding joy IN our pain versus finding joy in what God produces THROUGH our pain. We'll explore the Hebrew concept of testing as purification and learn why trials aren't interruptions to God's plan for our lives - they ARE God's plan for our lives. Sometimes the most mature thing you can do is trust God's purposes when you can't understand His methods.
