The Business of Risk: Migrant Labour
Episode 5
Monday, 14 August, 2023
In Episode 5 of The Business of Risk, we explore the issue of migrant labour: the extent to which our global economy relies on these workers, why they're so vulnerable to exploitation and where they tend to work. Our host for this episode is Rachel Weller, Senior Consultant at Sancroft International and she's joined by Anastasia Vynnychenko, Head of the Migration, Business and Human Rights programme at the International Organisation for Migration in Viet Nam, and Neill Wilkins, Head of the Migration Workers Programme and the Institute for Human Rights and Business. Together they discuss the role of climate change and the COVID-19 pandemic as drivers for increased exploitation, the solutions some businesses are already using to support migrant workers and what more businesses and policy makers need to think about and do.
