This technique was developed by Dr. John Lyftogt in order to treat chronic neuropathic pain. This therapy option consists of a series of small injections immediately under the skin targeting painful areas where the nerves are sensitive. Originally, this treatment was named subcutaneous prolotherapy and eventually later named neural prolotherapy; however, a more descriptive term was utilized and this procedure is known as Lyftogt Perineural Injection Therapy.
