The Bread & Circus podcast is inspired by the Collapse of the Roman Empire. The Roman satirical poet Juvenal once wrote: "Already long ago, from when we sold our vote to no man, the People have abdicated our duties; for the People who once upon a time handed out military command, high civil office, legions - everything, now restrains itself and anxiously hopes for just two things: bread & circuses." Juvenal wrote this 100 years after Jesus Christ was crucified. The Roman Coliseum was built to appease the masses with bloody games, bread and wine. Citizenship was dead. So was Freedom.
