Hi, I'm Francis Keany - author and broadcast journalist. Welcome to The Trough, your daily news feed. This podcast is a bit of an experiment - a daily ten minute bite-sized wrap of all the political stories you need to know before you get to work each morning. It's something I've been keen on doing for some time and I hope you guys will love it. I'll be running this for the next few weeks as I explore the world of freelance journalism. For those wondering about the name, The Trough is a nickname given to the Parliamentary Staff Cafeteria in Canberra, where politicians, staffers and journalists can dine for breakfast, lunch or dinner. There is the occasional complaint about the serving sizes of the Beef Stroganoff Language: en Genres: News Contact email: Get it Feed URL: Get it iTunes ID: Get it |

The Trough for Friday the 24th of March
Thursday, 23 March, 2017
Today - Turnbull slams Pauline Hanson over calls for Muslim immigration ban, Abbott calls for the Federal Government to keep the Hazelwood power station open and Jacqui Lambie opens up on welfare cuts. Also - this is the final episode from me. At least for now. As I warned, this was always going to be an experiment, and I'm satisfied that it works. But it was also going to be difficult to help pay the bills with this and I simply wont have enough time thanks to the work I'm doing now. If you want more information, take a listen or visit Thetrough.com.au So, thanks for listening. I'll talk to you soon.
