Effective Time Blocking Strategies That Work for Me
Friday, 22 August, 2025
Time blocking often sounds rigid, but it doesn’t have to be. In this episode of Talk, I’m walking you through how I use time blocking in a flexible, realistic way that supports both my energy levels and my life as a business owner, mum, and educator. If the traditional “hour by hour” model doesn’t work for you, this episode will show you how to shift to chunking, batching, and building a calendar that works with your life, not against it. What You’ll Learn in This Episode Why Traditional Time Blocking Doesn’t Always Fit We’re not working 9–5 with zero interruptions, and that’s okay. I share why strict time blocks can create stress instead of flow, and how to work around that. How I Plan at a Year, Month, and Week Level I start big and zoom in: annual plans lead to quarterly priorities, which shape monthly focuses and weekly actions. How I Structure My Work Week From client reviews and coaching to content creation and training days, I walk through how I assign purpose to each day (without boxing myself in). The Power of Energy-Aware Scheduling Using tools like the Rise app, I track my energy peaks so I can coach, create, and plan when I’m at my best, not just when the calendar says so. Why Batching Works Better Than Multitasking By batching things like client work, content reviews, and launches, I stay focused and make better use of my time, while leaving space for rest and flexibility. Key Takeaway Time blocking should support your workflow, not restrict it. When you plan around your energy, responsibilities, and creative flow, you set yourself up for consistency and less burnout. Action Step Look at your week ahead and assign one key focus to each day. It doesn’t need to be rigid. Think in chunks, align with your energy, and give yourself space to create what matters.
