“It is better to die with dignity than live without self-respect. I have served my motherland for a long time, and at a time like this I won`t let it get stained. There is no option but to fight.” Those were the words of the warrior queen of Gondwana, Rani Durgavati, who fought valiantly against multiple invaders. She fought 51 fierce battles and never lost once. But her battle with the mighty Mughals became her last one where she fought till her last breath. Her martyrdom day is even today commemorated as "Balidan Diwas".
