El Refugio talks

We are providing post-release services in partnership with Paz Amigos and Alterna. Our volunteers meet our friends at the Atlanta airport and help them get home via plane, bus, or car. We are providing masks and gloves. We are and other personal supplies like shoes, clothing, and backpacks to released individuals. We can provide assistance to pay for flight/bus tickets for folks who can't afford it. We are also using rideshare for those folks released from GA Detention Centers who leave in the Metro-Atlanta area. We are accepting handmade masks for our friends coming out of detention and the volunteers who are supporting them. Go herefor guidelines. We want our friends inside Stewart to know they are neither alone nor forgotten. We have put money on their telephone accounts, so they can call their loved ones. We made a small deposit into the phone account of people in detention. 177 people received $10 into their phone account. We also made another deposit into the detained friend's commissary accounts, so they can buy hand sanitizer, food, hygiene products, and other items. 170 people received $17 from El Refugio. Go here to donate. El Refugio joined Project South, Detention Watch Network, and other advocacy organizations in calling for the release of everyone in detention.
