If you or your kid loves baseball this podcast is for you. It includes tons of good info for parents interested having their kids play baseball at any level, from little Tee-ballers to high school scout teams. The guests run travel ball organizations, baseball leagues (PONY, Little League, Cal Ripken), are umpires; and, have had experience coaching kids sports, specifically baseball for the most part, and played sports themselves as kids, in high school, college and even professionally at the top levels. Alan's two boys started in Little League, 2012, and since have played PONY, and travel ball. Alan began and ran a highly competitive organization in the South Bay of Los Angeles (Torrance based) with teams ranging from 8U to 13U. He now enjoys helping out as a parent and watching his boys play baseball and his daughters ballet and dance performances. We want to let you know, from a variety of voices and experiences, what to expect when you sign up for baseball: the costs, the atmosphere, amount of time you will need to dedicate, and much more that goes into your family and children's sports experience. Umpire and Iraq War veteran (Army) talks about his life experience as an umpire and a fan of baseball. He has worked high school, college, rec ball (little league and PONY), as well as a ton of travel ball (NCS, PG, Triple Crown and more). He covers some of the details that go into being an umpire physically, the difficulties that come with the job and some of his favorite moments as an umpire. Will shares about the relationships that he has formed with coaches, he mentions Pac Gutierrez as a major influence, as well as his favorite catcher he's worked with, Logan Pena. Will gives a perspective that isn't often heard about what really goes on behind the "dish" while we are all watching Americas pastime, baseball.
