After our spectacular, “Do You Wanna Boogie” party @ the 2010 WMC, I wanted to keep the groove going so I dug out a mix I did live in January ’85 at Club 1849 in philaDELphia. It was a “Best of 1984 MasterMix” containing 51 songs in 45 minutes (remember that’s how long one side of a CASSETTE TAPE was!)! Done with all vinyl, and preserved on tape until now, I digitized it, added an intro and outro only, and want to share it with all of you. These were the songs and artists that have provided the foundation for much of our DANCE MUSIC today and many of these popular and rare gems are still hits and/or are still in demand! You’ll hear artists like: Baricentro, L’Amour, Hugh Masekela, Shannon, John Rocca, Chaka Khan, Madonna, Klinte Jones, Colonel Abrams, M&M, Willesden-Dodgers, Temper, Paul Hardcastle, Jocelyn Brown, Stephanie Mills, Hashim, Captain Rapp, Midway, Imperial Brothers, Dominatrix… and many more. For those of you who "lived it"... try to remember the songs, try to remember who did them. For those hearing some or all of these for the first time... be ready for many REAL instruments, raw & innovative sounds, and the roots of what you love today.
