Mark Call – Torah Teaching for Parsha “Metzora”
Sunday, 26 April, 2026

Parsha “Metzora” (Leviticus chapters 14 through 15) is the conclusion to the study of something which does not even exist anymore – the ‘plague’, or malady, or skin disease once called “tzaraat.” But maybe the world would be better of if it did. Or at least people behaved as if it still did. Is it just possible that there is more here than we’ve been told? Join Mark Call of Shabbat Shalom Mesa fellowship for a story that only begins there. And if you find the connections valuable, please forward the message to those who might be blessed by it. The Erev Shabbat reading lays out more of the details of ‘unclean-ness,’ such as following childbirth, and the associated requirements that follow afterward: https://hebrewnationonline.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/SSM-4-24-26-Metzora-teaching-podcast-xx.mp3 But the real Truth seems to be in the connections. Mark begins the Sabbath Day midrash with a look at what might be relevant about “rituals” associated with events, like childbirth, and a woman’s monthly cycle, that still happen regularly, and observations by some even in ‘mainstream Christianity’ that there has been a tendency, for several generations at least, to “bend the Bible’ to conform to the popular culture. OK – tell me somethin’ we didn’t know! Obviously it goes much further. But this parsha turns out to be a perfect illustration, he contends. Because the related claim is that, instead, people should try to “conform to the image of ‘Jesus'” — even if they fail to recognize the fact that that very ‘image’ has been bent to conform to a culture which doesn’t even recognize the real Messiah from their fuzzy-wuzzy imitation. “Does that offend you?” He asked — more than once. But “blessed is he who is not offended because of Me.” Does it matter that much of churchianity seems to be offended by the Real Yahushua HaMashiach, but not their substitute? The irony is that YHVH sent both the PLAGUE of ‘tzaraat’ and His Son, the very “Torah Made Flesh,” to His people. And both evidently have a LOT to say about “what comes out of a man.” Both — among other things — to teach them things they now, and perhaps almost always anyway, prefer to ignore – or “bend to fir their culture.” One of them hasn’t been seen in the world, so far as we know, for centuries.
