The Cass City Red Hawks secured their fourth victory in two weeks with a 51-42 road victory against the Reese Rockets on Friday, January 24, 2025. Most of the game was controlled by Cass City with a lead that approached double digits, but Reese responded each time with key shooting, even taking the lead with 6:14 left in the fourth quarter 38-35. The Red Hawks then went on a 12-0 run in 5:22 to take command for good and secure their seventh win of the season. Both teams' defenses limited each other's leading scorers to half of their averages. Cass City was led by Matt Mellendorf's 19 points with 17 of them coming in the second half. Griffin Weiler was close behind at 17 points, including going 6-6 from the free throw line. Reese's offense was paced by Ian Weldon's 10 points. The Rockets outrebounded Cass City by nearly double, 31-16.With the victory, Cass City remains two games out of first place in the Big Thumb - White division after losing to Millington on Wednesday by four points. Reese' losing streak now extends to four games in nine days. They have not won since knocking off first-place Bad Axe on January 10.
