Join us for a conversation about glyphosate with Dr. Charles Benbrook, a renowned expert on agricultural systems and their impact on health and the environment.Cancer rates are on the rise in Iowa, and every year half of our state is bathed in pesticides containing the controversial chemical glyphosate. Meanwhile, the Iowa state legislature is considering a bill – the Cancer Gag Act – that would grant multi-billion-dollar corporations legal immunity from any lawsuits alleging their pesticides cause cancer.Dr. Benbrook will discuss the potential ramifications of the Cancer Gag Act, new research on the links between exposure to Roundup and other glyphosate-based herbicides and blood cancer risks, and the connection between soil health and public health.This event was held in early 2025 in collaboration with 100Grannies, Iowa Farmers Union, and the UNI Center for Energy & Environmental Education.To learn more about 100Grannies, visit us at 100grannies.org or follow us on our Facebook page.
