One of the biggest mistake that we can make is to let our thoughts run without being checked. An exercise that I have found helpful is — when a random, out of the blue thought runs across my mind I ask myself if this is what I am truly feeling? And I try to figure out where that particular thought came from.As a person that comes from black heritage it scares me every time I hear or see something like what we have been seeing lately. I always think about my dad, my brother, my husband, son and all of my family members. To be honest, I get really scared because I don’t want that to happen to them. I think about that, I ponder what I should tell my son. But realistically, the only thing I can do is do the absolute best that I can do. I can’t worry myself to death about it. I have to take control of the thoughts that are running through my mind. I have to be the master of my mind. I have to find away to counter those negative thoughts when they come. I cant allow myself to become a prisoner of negative thoughts. So, an exercise that I do is as I said earlier, when its a thought that isn’t positive I try to trace it back to something. I try to figure out what made me think about this particular thing and once I identify I know that I need to maybe minimize the attention I am giving to that thing. I also have to say something, whether out loud or to myself to counter the negative thinking. What I refuse to do is allow bad thoughts to setup shop and invite its friends to the party. “You are not a helpless victim of your own thoughts, but rather a master of your mind.” Available via: Spotify, Apple Podcast, Google Play, iHeart Radio, & Amazon AlexaMusic by: Ikson Hosted on Acast.
