Sales reps don’t bet money when gambling in their territory, they bet customers. And like casino gambling, they almost always lose. Most seed reps don’t realize that customers are their sales force. Customers are the reason every seed seller succeeds or fails. Yet, those customers are so often lost because seed reps gamble with their loyalty. They assume customers will stay with them even during the most critical times of the year, regardless of how their varieties performed. They gamble with customers by avoiding them during harvest. They’re betting that their customers, their sales force, will still be their customers after harvest regardless of how their varieties did, or what each customer’s attitude was during harvest….
