Have you ever spent the day getting things done, but still avoided the task you actually intended to do? In this episode of ADHD Support Talk Radio, Tara McGillicuddy talks about productive procrastination and how it shows up for adults with ADHD. Productive procrastination happens when you take action on something useful or meaningful, but it is not the project, task, or commitment you originally planned to work on. Sometimes productive procrastination can help you build momentum, reduce mental clutter, and move into action. Other times, it can pull you into hyperfocus, time blindness, guilt, shame, and avoidance of the thing that matters most. Tara shares a helpful question to ask yourself when you notice it happening: Is this helping me do what I intended to do?
