The Last Gospel: A Survey of John - John 9

As we return the Gospel of John after this season of advent, we find Jesus restoring a man’s sight who had been blind from birth. There is a great deal to glean from this passage. Jesus heals this man with a very unique and interesting method. He miraculously heals this man on a Sabbath day, which creates tension with the religious authorities. Finally, Jesus teaches the man he has healed that He came to bring sight to the blind, but also to make the sighted spiritually blind. Why does Jesus heal as He does? What lessons can we learn from how Jesus prioritizes healing of those in need on Sabbath days? Jesus confronts our nature, and shows us what we should emphasize during the course of our lives.
