Her Kidnappers Sent Anabel Segura’s Family on a Cruel Wild-Goose Chase

In 1993, 22-year-old Anabel Segura was kidnapped while jogging in Madrid's La Moraleja neighborhood. Her family and the police spent almost three years looking for her after her kidnappers made them believe she was still alive. A clue in a ransom tape led the police to identify and arrest the kidnappers after realizing Anabel was long gone. The kidnappers were sentenced to lengthy prison terms, but only served a fraction of their sentences before being released.Anabel’s story left a lasting impact, and her legacy continues to be honored in Madrid with a cultural center named after her.
