PT Perspective: Episode 1 - The Latissimus Dorsi
Tuesday, 29 August, 2017
In this episode we discuss the structure and function of the latissimus dorsi, or 'lats', and how they affect baseball players and runners in their respective sports. We go in depth with Tim Russell PTA, CSCS about how he would address and prevent lat tears in pitchers such as Noah Syndergaard as well as in a lower level athlete population. We also sit down with Chad Blomquist DPT and discuss a case study in which an olympic sprinter tears her lat. Chad also goes into depth in regards to how runners should strengthen their lats, and why the muscle is important for maintaining endurance and improving times.
