Art Dirt: Talking with FotoFest Director Steven Evans
Sunday, 19 April, 2026

Brandon Zech speaks with Steven Evans about his career path from the Dia Art Foundation to his current role as FotoFest Executive Director, the history of FotoFest, and this year's biennial. “[FotoFest] didn't have to restate [its] mission after Black Lives Matter and 2020. Our mission was always responding to issues within society... that had been part of FotoFest from the beginning. And that's the main reason I took the job, because I met the staff and the board, and they were all dedicated to that mission and not afraid of photography that was talking about real issues happening today."
