Will we remain as dry bones, or will we stand as God's army?
Friday, 6 March, 2026
This powerful message confronts us with a piercing question that echoes through Scripture: Will we remain as dry bones, or will we stand as God's army? Drawing from Ezekiel's vision of the valley of dry bones, we're challenged to examine the spiritual journey from compromise to death, and ultimately to resurrection. The message begins with Elijah's confrontation at Mount Carmel, asking Israel how long they would limp between two opinions. This spiritual lameness, this divided heart trying to serve both God and idols, becomes the first step toward spiritual death. We see how the people of Israel lost their identity when they disconnected from their covenant with God, leading them to become the dried out bones Ezekiel witnessed. But the beauty of this message lies in God's response to death. Where human possibility ends, divine power begins. Through the prophet's obedience to speak God's word, bones rattled together, flesh formed, and finally the breath of God brought life. This same pattern repeats in the New Testament with the lame man at the Beautiful Gate and Lazarus emerging from the tomb. We're reminded that God doesn't want us begging at beautiful doors with dead hearts inside. He calls us to make radical choices, to stop entertaining different opinions, and to surrender completely to His sovereignty. The Spirit of God alone can transform us from scattered, lifeless bones into a standing, fighting army ready for His purposes.
