Unstoppable
Sunday, 29 March, 2026
Pastor Paul Burke @ Church of The RevelationPalm Sunday invites us into one of the most powerful paradoxes of our faith: the day when victory looked like humility, when a king arrived on a borrowed donkey instead of a war horse, and when the road to triumph led through surrender rather than force. This message explores Mark 11:1-11, where Jesus fulfills the prophecy of Zechariah by entering Jerusalem in a way that challenged every expectation. The crowd laid down palm branches and garments, creating what appeared to be a royal procession, yet Jesus came as low as he possibly could. This wasn't weakness but the divine strategy for unstoppable victory. The untamed colt that carried Jesus without resistance reveals something profound: even creation recognized its Creator when the crowd was confused about who he really was. We're challenged to examine whether we welcome the Jesus of Scripture or the Jesus we've created in our minds to fit our preferences. Do we love him for who he truly is, or only for what we want him to do for us? The humility Jesus demonstrated isn't just an example to admire; it's the path we're called to walk. Going lower is how we go higher in God's kingdom. This Palm Sunday reminds us that Jesus didn't come to be part of our lives but to be Lord of our lives, and that requires daily surrender, not just momentary celebration.
