This Podcast is a Pittsburgh Pirates- and baseball-themed podcast started by Michael McKenry and Jason Mackey. One with a unique and charitable drive behind it. McKenry and Mackey come at the sport with somewhat opposite perspectives. A catcher with the Rockies, Pirates and Cardinals during a seven-year big league career, plus another five in the minors, McKenry brings the perspective of a former player at the most cerebral position on the field. He also works as a color analyst with AT&T SportsNet as he shifted into a post-playing media role. Mackey, a failed former baseball player who topped out playing NCAA Division III, has covered the Pirates for the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette since May 2019. He previously spent five years covering the Penguins and has been in journalism since 2007. Pitching In features plenty of in-depth analysis, with at least one host on-site, along with a light-hearted humor about the uniqueness of living a baseball lifestyle.
