Jesus Applies Daniel's Prophecy
Thursday, 22 October, 2026
This sermon examines the direct connection between Daniel's prophecy of the seventy weeks and Jesus' Olivet Discourse, highlighting how Jesus explicitly references Daniel 9:27 to explain the abomination of desolation. The teaching argues that while the destruction of Jerusalem in AD 70 fulfilled the immediate prophetic timeline, the discourse also points to the future return of Christ as the Son of Man. It emphasizes that God's sovereign timetable is fixed, yet He shortens the days of tribulation for the sake of His elect, demonstrating covenant faithfulness. The sermon concludes by urging believers to reject date-setting and instead focus on ordinary faithfulness and watchfulness, recognizing that prophecy is intended to shape daily conduct rather than satisfy curiosity.
