It serves as a document of their early 70's live show, which pushed them to levels of popularity that their studio albums couldn't. With a ragtag crew of two masterful drummers, one of the greatest guitarists of all time and the only person who could keep up with and out-compose him, a dynamic bass player, and soulful lead vocalist/organ player - their powers are on full display "At Fillmore East" with no overdubs necessary.A lesser-discussed but equally as powerful and moving live album is Erykah Badu's second overall album, simply called "Live." Julius's pick may have been a performance in-studio for industry professionals, but their enthusiasm and the tightness of all musicians involved allows you to become entranced with the live show Ms. Badu was bringing across the country to promote her debut, "Baduizm."
