Drewling SamanticsAuthor: Drewling Samantics
Drew and Sam are actors. They havent won any Academy Awards yet, and neither of them is in line to be the new James Bond (sorry Sam), but between them they do have over half a centurys worth of experience in the industry. Many months ago a combination of boredom, significantly reduced work opportunities (thanks pandemic!) and overactive and under-stimulated imaginations inspired them to create a podcast, and somehow theyre still at it. Join the Drewling Samantics chaps every Sunday (or download and listen later) as they give an entertaining insight into how their industry works - from modelling to voiceover, theatre to film, and television to streamed media, the gents talk about all areas of performance artistry, giving an insider view that is sometimes humorous, often eye-opening or poignant, and at times just downright strange! With regular guest appearances and the odd special on location segment, Drewling Samantics brings something unique and fresh to the world of podcasts from two normal blokes, working in a rather abnormal industry. S16E11 - Two for the Price of One
Episode 11
Sunday, 23 August, 2026
Two for the Price of One There are some things in life that just work better when combined, and are rarely seen apart; fish and chips, your mouse and keyboard, holidays and sunshine (if you’re lucky anyway!) Then there are those famous duos that are so brilliant and familiar you simply can’t imagine them not being together - Woody and Buzz Lightyear, Delboy and Rodney, Wallace and Gromit, Punch and Judy - the list is seemingly endless. But, beyond characters in films and TV, what are some other working partnerships in the world of entertainment that we have all been fortunate enough to enjoy? Well this week your two regulars are here as usual, chatting and bantering on exactly that subject! Yes, our beloved podcasting pair Drew and Sam became friends initially through immersive theatre work, and then (almost ironically!) were brought closer together during the period of the “Unwelcome Guest”, and as a result both this podcast, and their undeniably successful partnership, have flourished, and they continue to be the powerhouse duo we know them as today. So presenting pairings are one area that the industry has seen some excellent examples of, but there are many, many duos in music, film, TV, writing, directing, performing and more, who were brought together by their shared abilities or the complementary nature of their skills when combined, and have continued to thrive ever since. Beyond the great comedy double-acts past and present, there are director and actor partnerships, lyricists and composers, dancers and their partners - in fact when you look into it there are even some less obvious combos that have achieved far more together than they perhaps would have done as individuals. But what makes these twosomes work? How do they find each other? And what do they have to do to ensure they secure a permanent place in the hearts and minds of fans and viewers? Join the Drewling Samantics chaps today to hear more about their views on this thought-provoking subject, and see if your all-time favourite duo (excluding Drew and Sam of course!) get a mention!
