No Women's Lit: A response to Hilary Layne's video about the current state of popular fiction being sold to women
Episode 5
Saturday, 22 November, 2025

This weeks episode is in Response to Hilary Layne's recent video about women's literature (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ffvRhsViyIQ&t=157s) Jaz and Josh disagree with most of her takes, but feel like she had a lot of interesting things to say. While Hilary seems to feel strongly that a lot of contemporary pop fiction is essentially porn marketed and designed to take advantage of the female mind. Jas wants to challenge those notions, partially from her own experience working in adult, but also that women are finally having a voice in what media they want to consume. It's a fun one! Buy Jasmine's debut novel, Above Snakes https://www.amazon.com/Above-Snakes-Jasmine-Lee-Keith/dp/B0FL3667BZ
