The challenge is learning how to give from that wisdom without losing ourselves along the way.”Hello, Dreamers! It has been a long time, hasn't it? After nearly two years away, I can finally say how good it feels to sit behind this microphone and share another session with you. Life took me in a few directions that needed my full attention, and sometimes caring for ourselves means knowing when to put something we love down for a little while. There will be plenty of time to catch up on where I have been and everything that has happened since we last spoke. For now, the lights are back on, the microphone is on, and Liquid Wisdom continues with Session 62.What happens when someone who has survived some of life's most difficult moments chooses to spend their time helping others through theirs? In this session, I sit down with my friend and fellow crisis worker Sweet P for an honest conversation about surviving domestic violence, finding strength after painful experiences, and discovering what life can look like beyond survival. Sweet P shares parts of her journey and the wisdom she has gathered along the way, reminding us that healing does not always mean forgetting what happened. Sometimes it means learning how to carry our experiences differently as we continue becoming who we are.What does it mean to hold space for someone in crisis when you are carrying a story of your own? Sweet P and I pull back the curtain on crisis work and talk about what it means to meet people during some of the most vulnerable moments of their lives. We explore empathy, compassion, emotional presence, and the responsibility that comes with being the voice on the other side of the conversation. We also reflect on how our own experiences can deepen the way we understand others without allowing those experiences to become the center of someone else's moment.Who takes care of the people who spend so much of their lives taking care of everyone else? We talk about the importance of rest, boundaries, self awareness, and learning to recognize when your own cup needs attention. Caring deeply for others should never require disappearing from your own life. Whether you work in mental health, crisis services, healthcare, education, or simply find yourself being the person everyone turns to, there is wisdom in remembering that you deserve some of the same patience, compassion, and care that you so freely give to others.There is something fitting about this being the conversation that welcomes Liquid Wisdom back. Sometimes life asks us to step away. Sometimes growth happens quietly, far away from microphones and audiences.
