French that speaks to you. Salut, c'est Hugo! I created this podcast in 2017 when I was teaching at the French institute in Warsaw, Poland. My goal was to show my students that they could learn French naturally simply by listening to it. 30 million downloads later, I think we're onto something! Granted, it's not a magic bullet. This method still requires hundreds of hours of practice. That's why I'm doing my best to make these episodes as engaging as possible. I want you to get sucked into the topics so deep you forget that you're "learning French". You'll quickly realize that you're capable of understanding a lot more French than you think. The episodes get progressively more challenging, so I'd recommend starting from the oldest ones and working your way up. From episode 92, I'm joined by Ingrid, a French journalist and teacher, for more conversational style episodes. L'amour, le couple et la famille ont toujours été considérés comme plus essentiels que l'amitié. On la considère souvent comme un plaisir de jeunesse qui doit passer au second plan à l'âge adulte pour se focaliser sur sa carrière et sa famille. Mais alors que le modèle de la famille traditionnelle est remis en question, et que la solitude progresse dans nos sociétés, l'amitié apparaît de plus en plus comme une solution alternative pour maintenir le lien social. Dans cet épisode, Hugo et Ingrid explorent ce sujet à la fois intime et politique. Car l'amitié n'est pas seulement une affaire privée : de l'Antiquité à la Révolution française, plusieurs penseurs y ont vu une véritable manière de construire la société, et même de la transformer.
