This podcast deals with potential tax benefit brought about by the recently enacted High Tax Exception (HTE) under Global Intangible Low Tax Income, commonly referred to as GILTI. The GILTI provisions introduced by TCJA were unintentionally penalising US taxpayers with domestic losses but having profitable controlled foreign corporations in jurisdictions having tax rates higher than that of the US. The GILTI HTE has brought about some much-awaited relief for such taxpayers.
