My 4-year-old Daughter Is A Genius
Tuesday, 14 September, 2021
I don’t like to brag, but I think JJ, my soon-to-be four-year-old daughter, is a little bit of a genius. I mean, she knows her alphabet, she knows her numbers, and she also knows her way around my heart each time she pleads earnestly for another piece of candy. So I have no doubt that my young progeny is very, very smart. I’m also sure that most parents quietly feel the same way. (About their own children, that is, not about JJ - but they’re more than welcome to think JJ is a genius if that’s what they really want.) They don’t normally declare it so publicly, but I believe that most parents have, at some point, thought their toddler children so ridiculously clever that they ought to be accepted as members of Mensa or something. They might even believe that their kids will eventually grow up to put an end to the three biggies that plague our modern civilisation: global poverty, third-world hunger and parental humblebragging.
