Welcome to VirolCast, a podcast about viruses in Arabic, hosted by Dr. Islam Hussein. Dr. Hussein is a virologist. He earned his PhD from the University of Cambridge, UK. As a postdoctoral trainee at the US National Institutes of Health and Kansas University Medical Center, he studied HIV and hantavirus. He then moved to a research scientist at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where he studied influenza viruses. Currently, he is a Senior Scientist at Microbiotix, a biotech company specialized in antimicrobial drug discovery, where he leads several projects focused on the discovery and clinical development of antiviral drugs.
