208. Wheat & Tares
Monday, 7 September, 2026
Weariness is easy to criticize from a distance and hard to carry up close. We open Matthew 9 and sit with the moment Jesus looks at the crowds and feels compassion because they’re weary and scattered, beaten down on the outside and tormented on the inside. That single scene reshapes how we think about servant leadership, and what it means to follow Jesus in real life: we don’t get called to problems so we can comment on them; we get called to fields so we can labor in them. From there, we wrestle with a provocative shift in focus. Jesus never tells us to pray for the harvest because the harvest is already present. He tells us to pray for laborers, and then he immediately sends laborers out, which means prayer and action belong together. We also dig into Matthew 13, the parable of the sower and the parable of the wheat and tares, to challenge our love of clean lines and quick judgments. Sowing without discrimination confronts how easily we write people off, and letting wheat and tares grow together humbles our desire to act as judge. Along the way, we connect Bible stories like Noah and Sodom and Gomorrah to a sober takeaway: human judgment doesn’t purify fields; it often damages them. Paul’s words in 1 Corinthians 4 bring it home, calling us back to faithful stewardship instead of self-appointed verdicts. My hope is that this podcast helps grow your faith and equips you to accomplish your dreams and goals!Follow me on InstagramFollow me on FacebookFollow me on TikTok
