The Flyers opened their Eastern Conference First Round series with a 3-2 victory over the Pittsburgh Penguins at PPG Paints Arena on Saturday night. In their first playoff game since 2020, the Flyers showed resilience and poise, with Travis Sanheim scoring the go-ahead goal midway through the third period and 19-year-old rookie Porter Martone netting the game-winner with just 2:37 remaining. Despite Evgeni Malkin's 68th career playoff goal for Pittsburgh, the Flyers held strong, getting stellar goaltending and timely scoring to steal Game 1 on the road.
