#133. Louis Leibovich | Longtime Memphis Drummer and Co-Founder of Pulse(Memphis Tribute to Pink Floyd)
Episode 218
Tuesday, 27 October, 2026
Derrick and Jeff reunite with drummer Louis Leibovich to talk about their shared history through Grammy-winning producer/engineer Mark Goodman, including how Mark’s relaxed, feel-first studio approach built confidence and kept sessions fun, and the details of his career and passing at Neil’s while helping carry gear. Louis discusses current work with the Memphis Blues Society jam at Rock House Live, emphasizing keeping the groove simple and in the pocket, and shares key drumming influences. He recounts early audio and touring work, including lighting and sound gigs with Barry Manilow, early Journey (pre–Steve Perry), and Poco, then returning to Memphis to study programming and spending 30 years with Memphis City Schools. Lewis also tells the origin story of Pulse, the Pink Floyd tribute band he co-founded, and reflects on deep cuts, radio hits, and the band’s legacy.
