This podcast explores twentieth century Irish history with a focus on Michael Collins and his transformation as an Irish freedom fighter against British rule, to chairman of the provisional government of the Irish Free State, a British Dominion. This is largely based off of my capstone project I completed at the end of my 4 year undergraduate history program at St. Mary's University, which I was never able to present due to Covid-19.

Episode 2: The London Colony, and the Easter Rising.
Episode 2
Sunday, 2 August, 2020

In this second episode we will explore the impact of Michael Collins' time in London, where he worked closely with the Gaelic League and the Gaelic athletic association, bringing him closer to his own Irishness and his people. We will also be discussing the most famous bid for Irish freedom, the Easter Rising - a doomed revolution which reinvigorated the desire for freedom for decades to come, an event which will set in motion Michael Collins' own revolutionary break following the war of independence period. This is the beginning of said period, the rebirth of the Irish struggle into the twentieth century. Sources utalized for this episode: Margery Forester.
