Cold and Missing: Mont Highley IV
Episode 148
Wednesday, 19 November, 2025
In November 2003, 33-year-old Mont Highley IV returned home to Alabama for Thanksgiving. He was looking forward to some of his favorite things: good food, time with family, and time spent outdoors. Mont had planned a simple weekend of hunting with his dad after Thanksgiving. But after he drove out to the family’s hunting land on Friday night, Mont vanished. His truck was found abandoned, his belongings left behind, and the farm showed unsettling signs that something was wrong. Weeks later, Mont’s body was discovered in an unused grain silo just miles from where he disappeared. Nearly 22 years later, his murder remains unsolved. In this episode of Cold and Missing, Ali and Eli walk through Mont’s final known steps and the unanswered questions his family still lives with, in hopes that someone, somewhere, knows the truth.*** If you know anything about the murder of Mont Highley IV in November of 2003 - please call the Alabama SBI Montgomery office at 1-800-392-8011 or email SBI.investigations@alea.gov ***Sources:The Montgomery Advertiser, The Birmingham News, WBMA ABC News 33/40, and Alabama Cold Case Advocacy Wanna Connect?Follow us on instagram @Cold_and_Missing to keep up with active cases and see pictures discussed in the episodeHave a case you want us to cover?
